Just before lockdown, I was corresponding with an editor of this magazine, going through the steps of publication as, two months earlier, I was informed that my article had been accepted! But, unsurprisingly, I stopped hearing from her after the lockdown. With my own life adjustments going on, I forgot about all of this myself.
After a while though, I got to thinking about the travel industry taking a hit and slowly sinking to uncertain depths and I wondered what the situation was.
So, I emailed asking how the staff at the magazine were and asked about the status of my article. They had originally offered me $30 to have it published but it was always less about the money for me at this stage and always more about simply being accepted and published, so I offered for them to publish it for free if necessary.
Two days later, I received an email saying that they had indeed published my article along with my photography. I worked hard on that article and it is about a place that I am incredibly passionate about so this is a really wonderful feeling.
The article is about Jersey. It would be excellent if you could click on the link and read this article and it will give the Go World Travel magazine a bit of traffic that they will be missing since the travel ban.
I just want to take a moment to thank my in-law family for introducing me to Jersey. If it wasn’t for them I may never have visited and had the opportunity to get to know such a beautiful place.
My Auntie-in-law is from Jersey and through her, this place became a most cherished annual holiday for the family who have been going every year for almost 30 years. They know this island in a way I never could of course, but I hope that this article based on my times visiting does it justice.
